学生的学习主动性对通识英语课程的教学效果至关重要。然而,在大学英语作为国内高校必修通识课的情形下,却有很多学生对英语学习缺乏主动性。这些学生的英语能力往往较差,学习的自信心也较为低落,需要英语教师在教学上特别用心。本研究尝试通过问卷调查的方式,探讨英语教师的特点与行为、教材以及教学方式和学生们学习主动性的关系及重要性。结果 发现,无论从何种角度看,增加学生的内在动机是提升其学习主动性的最有效方法。最后,对于学习动机较低的学生,本研究提出提升其学习动机的英语教学建议。

Motivation plays an extremely important role in learning English. However, under the circumstance that English courses are required, some non-English majors lack motivation to learn English. These students usually poor in English and low in self-confidence. They need English teachers who can help them enhance their learning motivation. Hence, this study aims to find out in what ways English teachers’ behaviors, teaching materials and teaching techniques affect the students’ English learning motivation by using questionnaires. The results show that the most effective way is to increase their intrinsic motivation. Finally, some suggestions for increasing the students’ motivation will be offered.
